About KRE
Ken and Wendy McNamara founded KRE Race Engines in 1995, evolving from a backyard operation to a prominent race engine workshop in Redland Bay, QLD. Over the years, KRE has earned a reputation for producing championship-winning race engines for Speedway and Supercars including multiple Bathurst 1000 wins.

Ken's passion for engines started in the late '80s whilst working on a Top Alcohol Dragster, then he continued through the years working with Sprintcar and Supercar teams like Triple Eight Race Engineering. With this deep experience, KRE quickly grew, moving from late nights in a small shop to a dedicated team of 12. They now build well over 150 race engines a year, focusing on performance, reliability, and customer service.

Ken and Wendy’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming industry leaders is a testament to their tireless hard work, unwavering commitment to quality, and passion for motorsport. Today, KRE stands as a powerhouse in the Australian and New Zealand motorsport scene, renowned for its innovative approach and dedication to producing reliable, race-winning engines. From their early days, KRE has built a solid reputation in the industry, particularly for its groundbreaking work in Sprintcar engines and the 2023 KRE-developed GM Chevrolet LTR Supercar engine, which powers all GM Chev Supercar Camaros on the track.

While Sprintcars and Supercars remain the core focus, KRE’s expertise extends across various disciplines within motorsport, including TCM, Dirt Modifieds, Super Sedans, and the emerging LS 360 Sprint class with their GM CT525 KRE modified crate engines. This broad range of involvement highlights KRE’s versatility and depth of experience, making them a trusted name in multiple motorsport categories.
